Any way to connect to different server to reduce high ping?

Greetings everyone!

I was looking into trying out the GMS extension and was impressed!
Thanks for making this extension and after trying out a tutorial, I've noticed something...

The ping that I'm getting is ~170ms with a test GM 8.0 project. The project is just a square sprite moving around with some drawn text to the screen.

When I'm pinging to, I get a ~20ms ping.
When I ping to, I do get ~170ms ping.
(I believe that this is the case because it's pinging to Germany and I reside in the US.)

Is there a way I can reduce the ping to an average of ~50ms?
Such as:
--Is there a way to connect to a different server than just what the GMS extension connects to while still using the extension?
--Does gms_connect() accept an argument to connect to a different server or merely connects to GMS?

I'd pay for this to continue using the extension if there's a way to connect to a different server than just the server that GMS connects to...

I already replied to your mail -- but I'll copy-paste my reply here as well just in case it might help anyone else:

From what you're describing, it sounds like the ping
is indeed caused by the physical distance between you and the server.

I appreciate that you'd want to pay for this, but unfortunately there's no
short-term solution for this problem. The current architecture of GameMaker
Server makes it impossible to "split" the server into multiple instances
running in different regions.

At some point in the future I'll likely release a complete rewrite of
GameMaker Server that solves this problem (and many others), but if you're
starting a project right now I would not recommend waiting for that.
