Here's why I don't want to give an ETA on the rewrite
As you may know, I'm working on a big rewrite of the entire extension, site, everything. I know you might be excited about the rewrite because it supports GM:Studio 2, or because it supports HTML5, or because it supports multiple servers and is more scalable, or because it gives you more freedom with accounts (I am excited too!).
However, I don't want to say anything about when it's going to be released. Sure, if you forced me to pick a date, how about 2029? But that doesn't help you any more than if I just say nothing, because it's not specific.
You might want to know a date because you want to plan things around it. And that's the exact reason why I don't want to give an ETA: because I don't want you to take it as a promise, and be disappointed if it later turns out that I ran into an unexpected delay, and I have to break that promise.
So what I can promise, is that hundreds of hours of work have already gone into the rewrite, and hundreds more will go into it. However, I can't give you any details on when it will be done.

I'm happy to see that you haven't abandon the project, since you've already made let's say the "first version of gamemakerserver" you could estimate and have a log update to tell us in what percent of completion you're in, for example:
Done: 28%
-Added this
-Added that
-Fixed this
-Fixed that
and after like a week or a month (whenever you had progress) you could update it

Besides what I've also mentioned to Shaddovv, wouldn't this just be interpreted as an ETA by most people?
Maybe you won't, but there are plenty of people that might be less patient than you and that will start to complain if some parts of development are taking longer than expected, or if the percentages don't actually increase at a constant pace.

Please stop spamming. This is your first and final warning: do not post your message more than once, and wait patiently for someone to respond.
There have been several people that have tried to help you. If you need more help, please try to explain what you understood from what other people told you, and what you don't understand yet.
Its alright actually, work at your own pace, nobody likes to be pressured to do something, its understandable, especially knowing that most of what you provide is free and yet you put a ton of effort into what you do for anyone to use. All i can say is -good luck on the rewrite and i hope i can use it for my games one day.
Rather then a release date, could we get a monthly update of whats left or what still needs to be done or what is currently happening? Even a 3 month update would be great.
Just something to indicate wether its coming more to a closur rather then a date to plan things around it. And when it gets to its final stages almost ready for release, Having people plan things around it would be impactfull drastically and I think possitively impacting for the extension and the site. Or atleast thats what I think. I would be definitly hyped to instantly make something with it.
Just wanted to say I support you through and through. I have been watching the extension for years and had so much fun with it. I still am from time to time.
Thank you for all the hard work and enjoyment this extension has given me.
Im looking forward to whats about to come in the future,
Shavv.

Wouldn't that do essentially the same thing though?
Obviously once the rewrite gets close to release I'll start posting about it more often and build some hype, but hype is a finite resource and if I start building it now it'll be depleted by the time the extension actually releases.
Well, thats for you to decide.
I would feel like a update notice, with the progress (rather then release date) would motivate people more to check in and not forget about the extension while they move on with life.
I found myself forgetting about the extension now and then because of no major things happening, or huge updates coming that are directed towards me personally (, because since GMstudio2 came out I lost interest in the first).
Just personal thoughts about this. :)
I'm sorry I couldn't find it. How can we support this project? Im a GMS2 user and would like to support the progress of GMServer as Im very interested and appreciate it. I mean like Patreon, giving beta testing for patreons, info for patreons or just receiving donations.
Thanks! And good job!!

Thank you for your interest! I'm currently not yet at a point where doing beta testing or giving regular updates makes sense. Once the rewrite is almost ready to release there will be a request for beta testers posted on this site.
Sorry already show it. It was a bit hidden with the Pixels. Thanks! I'll try my first 10$ ;)
Is it still gonna work with Studio 1.4 and GameMaker 8.1?

Yes, anything from GM8 to GM:S2 will be supported. Though obviously the focus will be more towards GM:S and GM:S2, so for example tutorials might use GM:S or GM:S2 by default.
